For a lex context and $0 < \mathit{num\_vars} < n$ , view $A \ne 0$ as a polynomial in $x_0, \ldots, x_{\mathit{num\_vars}-1}$ with coefficients in the other variables, and set $c$ to its leading coefficient, respectively $g$ to the GCD of its coefficients (returning 0 if a GCD failed).
